“It’s a factory – a think-tank”
Robert Wilson envisions a 6-acre site in Long Island as a cultural centre, rehearsal spaces and living quarters. The building, previously a research laboratory for Western Union, preserves its function as a factory, now for artistic production. Flexible interior spaces can serve as dormitories, studios or galleries. Perpendicular axes open and frame views to the landscape beyond, joining interior and exterior spaces.
Commissioned by Robert Wilson, the design has been developed in collaboration with Richard Gluckman.
