The central design element on Martiniplatz in Bremen is a 27-metre long, serpentine functional sculpture. It serves as a visual highlight of a public square. Thru its form, the bench creates space around and in between to stay and rest.
AAS developed the design out of the human spinal column, which underlines the connection to the usage of the surrounding buildings, a health insurance.
The bench is painted in a conspicuous pink and the reverse side can be used as bicycle parking. The colour was developed of the surrounding historic architecture with its different red brick colours. The different tones have been digital analysed and transferred into a reddish /pink tonality.
