AAS:object:project by Gonzalez Haase AAS was on display at Andreas Murkudis Potsdamer Strasse 77 Berlin from 11 March to 15 April 2023. The special exhibition showcased AAS objects for the first time in the same location, shifting the focus to Gonzalez Haase AAS practice, some twenty years after the first exhibition with Murkudis during the first edition of Berlin Designmai in 2003. The exhibition, which honored objects without context, featured objects currently produced and sold by New Tendency and Analog, as well as many others available via AAS only. AAS proposed a scenography, with a flooring layer made of loose confetti to trace the passage and density of visitors in between the exhibited objects.
While the exhibition focused on objects, the new book AAS 2021-1999 484-001, published by Hatje Cantz and developed with Mirko Borsche from Bureau Borsche, presents the spaces designed by AAS. The book is an automated extension of the website, which used the site’s database to generate the layout, translating the infinite stream of the website to the printed page. Andreas Murkudis, who first took an interest in AAS during his time as curator for the Museum der Dinge in the Martin-Gropius-Bau, has worked extensively with AAS over the last twenty years to develop concepts for stores opened by him.
