As a reinterpretation of the traditional department store format, AAS proposed dividing the various brands and product types of the Andreas Murkudis concept store into different topological identities, similar to those of a city or village.

Set in the former printing facility of the Tagesspiegel, the space is composed of two large halls that appear as both an urban site and exhibition space. The halls are stripped back to reveal the building’s architectural elements, complemented by lighting that highlights both the products and the space itself. The resulting effect is an extended space, void of all heaviness.

A selection of goods are displayed on large platforms, built to give the impression of unmovable, monumental grandeur. Crafted from white painted fiberboard more commonly associated with building construction, these platforms provide a clear distinction from the furniture on sale.
