Atelier Trans Pal (ATP) is Paris and London-based artist Stefan Shankland’s latest project. Developed with the assistance of Gonzalez Haase AAS, ATP re-examines the model of the artist’s studio space in a contemporary context, where the need for a versatile, mobile, modular and functional work platform is essential. The main challenge of the ATP structure is to design a workable system that maximises the number of m3 of multifunctional space whilst keeping the number of m2 on the ground to a minimum. ATP will first be set up publicly in autumn 2006 on the Parade Ground – an open public space set between the Tate Britain and Chelsea College of art and design, London; ATP will be part of the Paris Calling season of contemporary art events in London.
